Episode 22: Countdown to Extinction (Dinosaur)

Journey back to the late Cretaceous/Crustaceous period with us and hope we get out just in time for the giant asteroid impact that destroyed most lifeforms on Earth.

What's that? You thought we were going to the early Cretaceous Period? Wrong.  Dr. Seeker has unlocked those coordinates and put your life on the line to fulfill some strange personal mission which may or may not involve a denim button down shirt and a very big tie. Trust me, what could go wrong?

Happy 2017, Everybody!

Episode 19: Ode to the Osborne Lights

In this Episode we share history and stories of one of the greatest shows ever presented at Walt Disney World.  The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights, later The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights holds a special place in our memories and likewise in the memories of probably anyone who ever saw them!

Laura tells the tale of Jennings Osborne from Little Rock, Arkansas who was on a simple quest to spend more time with his family.  Alison reminds everyone of some of the details found around the attraction and Andy's Roundup leaves us to solve the age-old problem: where else could Disney have put this attraction rather than just canceling it altogether?

Fire up those time machines, everyone! Don't worry, we'll have you back before your dad finds out you borrowed it.  A little twist on the classic trip report here, DisneyPhilharpodcast proudly presents a throwback Trip Report! No bowler hat guy in sight!

Alison gives her trip report from a May 2007 WDW Trip and believe it or not, has enough details to describe it as if it were just yesterday!

Andy's Roundup is magically transformed into Andy's Conversational Piece and we aaaaaaalmost managed to get through the whole episode without a mere mention of the dreaded Tomorrowland cabanas...but were unsuccessful.

Episode 17: That Time Stitch Took Over Everything

Aloha! Hey, so remember that time when Stitch took over everything?!

Yes, that's right, Experiment 626, otherwise known as our beloved Stitch, maintained quite a presence in the Disney Universe for most of the 2000's with four movies, a tv show, his own attraction in the Magic Kingdom and some...moments which were, shall we say, not exactly exemplary of a model citizen.  Badness level was high!!!

So grab yourself some coffee and desserts (more desserts!)and join us as we chat about...well...that time Stitch took over everything!
Oh, and Leroy.

Episode 16: Fort Wilderness

Howdy, y'all! In this episode we are alllllll about Fort Wilderness lyfe.  As campers in our non-Disney lives, and members of an elite 80's Fort Wilderness Secret Society, we have a special place in our hearts for this "off the beaten path" resort.

Laura and Alison describe their fond memories for camping here as little kids roughin' it with Chip 'n Dale and even a little Andrew hung out here hittin' up the Hoop Dee Do Revue as a youngin'.

Remember the Melvin the Moose breakfast? Well Alison informs Laura they have never actually been to the HDD Revue and have been LIVING A LIE THIS WHOLE TIME.

Guess what? We've got TWO Roundups in this Episode, though the management over at Andy's Roundup has sent multiple cease and desist letters.

Episode 15: Cast Member Story Time

Gather 'round everyone as Andrew and Laura relive their WDW College Program experience. You're in for some crazy and super fun behind the scenes stories from the perspective of those who worked the front lines at WDW.

Andrew takes you deep within the burning trenches of what it's like to work strollers at EPCOT. You'll also be surprised to learn that you don't need to provide your own Segway when headed to Segway training.

Laura describes what it's like to work an overnight shift at the largest retail Disney store in the world. And learn where you can find the ABC's of the WOD: Ariel's Attic, Belle's Basement, and Cinderella's Closet.

Of course, Marge makes a special appearance to announce her debut on Twitter. Check her out at: @mainmaidmarge

We close episode with another exciting Andy's Roundup where we answer the age old question: "What's your dream job in WDW?". We also answer this question for Alison in her absence :)

Let us know YOUR answers to the Roundup question by finding us on Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram!

Episode 14: The Haunted Mansion

Welcome, foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion. We are your hosts, your ghost hosts. Kindly press play when you are prepared to listen attentively, and make room for everyone.  There's no turning back now.

Laura tells some great stories about the attraction's inception beginning with Walt himself in Disneyland.

We discuss the ride as we know and love it in Walt Disney World and make plenty of tributes to the brilliant narration provided by X. Atencio.

And if you are not frightened prematurely, Laura & Andrew continue with a memorable review of a not-so memorable movie, The Haunted Mansion, starring Eddie Murphy, which receives a Disney Philharpodcast rating of 1.5 Roz's (you might actually be really frightened at this point). This also leads to an interesting Spooky Edition of Andy's Roundup.

Now, I will raise the safety bar, and a ghost will follow you home!

Episode 13: WDW Ghost Stories

Come join us around the Campfire (yes, the one at Fort Wilderness) as we tell some ghostly stories and tales of spookenings at Walt Disney World.

Hear the stories of WDW's happiest haunts including: George from the Pirates of the Caribbean, Robert and his balloon at the Contemporary, the Black Eyed Children at the TTC, and even one super scary haunt at Splash Mountain complete with confirmation by Alison and Laura.

Andy's Roundup gets a little morbid when we try to decide where in the World we would like our ashes scattered...

Alison's stories sources from the following book (10/10 recommend!)

Episode 12: Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

This episode is somewhat unique, and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize, is a maintenance service elevator...NO! It's a podcast! But, still, we invite you, if you dare, to press "PLAY" because this podcast travels directly to...The Twilight Zone.

Laura really outdoes her research skills here on this episode and provides you with all the scientific information you could ever imagine about this truly amazing Walt Disney World attraction.

Andy's Roundup asks us all to imagine WHAT, if anything, could provide for an acceptable overlay to our precious ToT...spoiler alert: Guardians of the Galaxy is not an acceptable answer...or overlay...ever.  :)

Choose your own lyrics, really!

Episode 9: Pirates of the Caribbean

Avast Ye Scurvy Scum!
Thar be rough waters and pillaging pirates ahead in this Episode.
Laura tells THE tales of the famed attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean and Alison describes the details of the attraction, itself.
If ye thinks yer weasley, black guts can travel forth, Andy's Roundup gets us all thinking about a lifetime of servitude on the ship of our favorite Pirate Captains.
A big thank you and recommendation to the documentary we found on YouTube: Disneyland Pirates of the Caribbean History Documentary by David Oneal.

Episode 8: Front vs. Back: The Ultimate Showdown

Ladies and Gentleman, Let's Get Ready to Ruuuuuuuuumble!!!!

This Episode we do something totally different and super fun; we have a proper, high school style debate team debate! Well, we're not sure if it is a debate, or, a boxing match, or, a case in the Court of Disney, or what! But we do know, this is a very serious topic and a very divisive issue.

Laura argues for #TeamBack while Alison argues #TeamFront; Andrew plays moderator and tries to stay neutral.  Oh...and impressions!

Andy's Roundup brings Dante's Inferno alive with another tough, topical question as usual.

Correction from Episode 7: Brad Rex was the Vice President of Epcot when Andrew was given the award, not the President.

Ding, Ding!

Episode 7: Costuming and The Disney Look

We have been dishing out a lot of history and research-based episodes lately so we decided to chill out a little with a fun conversation on Costumes and The Disney Look.

Laura provides the background and details on what exactly is "The Disney Look" and we all share descriptions of the costumes we wore when we worked as Cast Members.  Follow us on Instagram for a photo journal throughout the week accompanying this episode and featuring some of the fun things we talked about! Who doesn't want to see how cute we were in our costumes?!

Don't forget Andy's Roundup :)

Everybody neat and pretty? Then on with the show!

*Quick pre-correction, it seems as if The Jungle Book: Alive With Magic has not ended completely, but switched to a much less frequent schedule of performances.  We really Baloo this.

Episode 6: All Aboard WDW Steam Trains

Choo Choo! Welcome to Episode 6 in which we discuss the many trains all around WDW property and the enormous influence Walt Disney's lifelong love of trains had on so many things in the Disney Universe!

Alison describes the presence of Steam Trains in Classic Walt Disney Animation and provides all of us with a crash course in Steam Engine Wheel Arrangements.  Later, she points out some of the Steam Trains on property you might not have noticed are Steam Trains or "Steam-Like" Trains as we come to find out...

Laura discusses some super-interesting history of Walt Disney's life which, pretty much, revolved around Steam Trains.  She then leads us into the crown jewel of our episode: the Walt Disney World Railroad.

Andrew makes true Roger Broggie's out of us all as we play Imagineer Engineers in Andy's Roundup.

Allllllll Aboard! Let's Go!

Also includes a quick correction from Episode 5...

Episode 5: The Holy Trinity...Monorail Resorts

In this episode we share tons of facts about the Big 3! The Magic Kingdom Area Resorts you can find along the monorail stops.

If anyone can make a fun episode while talking only about resorts, it's this podcast! Laura, Alison, and Andrew share tons of facts and fun memories of the Contemporary, the Polynesian and Grand Floridian resorts while--you guessed it--managing to add in some more fun impressions.

Of course, Andy's Roundup is back with another tough question.

Episode 4: Spaceship Earth, in all it's Glory!

In this Episode we celebrate Spaceship Earth and explore the story of communications!

Journey back 40,000 years to the dawn of recorded history as Laura introduces us to the construction and early years of SSE.

Alison shares some changes to the ride in its later days and reminds us of some not-so-fond memories of a glaring, behemoth structure once perched atop a legendary structural masterpiece.

Andrew shares some truly special stories and first hand knowledge as he recounts his days working under the ball. And check out Andy's Roundup's brand new theme song! But mostly, come for the impressions...

Now...let us go forth and fulfill our destiny on Spaceship Earth.

Episode 3: Past Parades on Parade

Welcome to Episode 3! In this episode we take a trip down memory lane and learn about some of the best WDW parades dating back to the late 1980's.

Laura takes you way back to the Spirit of America parade, Mickey's 60th Birthday Parade and Disney Character Hit Parade.  Later, she rings in the new millennium with the Dream Parades and gives a touching tribute to EPCOT's Tapestry of Nations parade.

Alison digs up some wacky memories from the early 90's in the Surprise Celebration and Mickey Mania parades.  The true hero here is her all-time favorite: Remember the Magic parade, which she gushes over throughout the episode.  We also can't forget DHS once had a parade, Disney Stars & Motor Cars!

Andrew's Roundup is back with a fascinating brainstorming session to create the perfect parade float!
